Viennie V Pays Tribute to Iconic Music Legend, Etta James
On January 20th, 2012, Etta James passed away at the age of 73. In remembrance to the legendary singer, pop artist Viennie V posted a tribute video to Etta James' phenomenal legacy. In the clip Viennie V remembers her as the "Queen of Blues, the Queen of Soul" who continues to inspire many artists today. The video also features Viennie V singing a dedication cover of the Etta's classic single, "At Last." A well-known fan of Etta James, Viennie V sings her heart out, staying true to the emotion and tenderness of the song. Her voice soars and carries the subtle drama of the lyrics with each note. In the clip Viennie V praises the classic’s sentimentality and relatability, reminding us that Etta James will continue to inspire and impact generations to come.
It would not do justice to say that Etta James was simply a music legend. Miss James achieved six Grammys and forever holds a place in the Grammy Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame. She shook stadiums with her powerful voice and presence, and had the nerve to bridge the gap between blues and rock n’ roll, paving the way for future artists. As Jon Pareles of The New York Times said in 1990, Etta James had “one of the great voices in American popular music, with a huge range, a multiplicity of tones and vast reserves of volume.”
